Pine Ridge Children's Home

Sacred Healing Circle is honored to serve as fiscal sponsor for "Wakanyeja Gluwitayan Otipi - Gather Our Children Home", a children’s care facility on Pine Ridge Reservation. Gather Our Children Home is the only emergency foster home and safe house located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Their facility assists children in crisis from ages 0-12. Since opening their doors in 2017, they have served the needs of over 350 children.

 

The word for “children” in the Lakota language is Wakaneja, which means “sacred beings.” Their care and well-being are not just the responsibility of the immediate family, but of the community as a whole.
